A key to dealing with knee pain Print E-mail
Knee pain often actually comes from the iliotibal band which is a fibrous tendon that runs from the hip bones (ilia) down the outside of the legs and joins on to the top of the lower leg  bone (tibia).

This band which stabilises the leg is prone to shortening particularly where there is joint degeneration (osteoarthritis) in either the hip or knee joint.

When shortened undue pressure on the knee joint will result and pain ranging from a dull ache to quite sharp pain can result in both or either the knee or hip.

The ITB stretch is a simple exercise that can provide immediate relief and over the longer term give considerable comfort where this condition exists.

We have included the instructions for the preferred method of doing the Iliotibial band stretch.
