Prevent lower back pain with a simple stretch Print E-mail
An arthritic hip joint can cause different types of pain due to muscles reducing their normal movement by locking up and preventing the full use of the joint.

A common condition is where the hip flexor muscles, which are at the top front of the legs, shorten becuase of wear in the hip joint.

The shortening of hip flexors effectively shortens your stride and when either walking or running the joint will not move far enough and the lower back does the majority of flexing, this can cause a chronic ache in the lower back area as those muscles are doing more than their fair share of work.

The hip flexor muscles are a complex group and are very difficult to stretch properly because other areas tend to pick up the slack and prevent thr proper stretching where it is required.

Instructions for the Hip flexor stretch.
