Lower back and upper leg flexibility Print E-mail
When there is arthritis in a joint the surrounding muscles often shorten, sometimes chronically, as they try to 'protect' the affected joint.

it is important that stretching and range of movement exercises are carried out on these supporting muscles.

The muscles around the hips are no exception to this and the hamstrings and lower back muscles are normally the worst.

A very basic stretch that is good for this is the hamstring stretch and it will keep the hamstring muscles long and also the connecting muscles will be in good condition too.
